Firearms practice in difficult times - part 3 of 3 - live fire- VERY short practice days.

 

Hi gang—

 

SHORT Training drills to maximize skills when ammo is restricted or expensive.

 

Ok, we are all PAINFULLY aware of how expensive ammo is (when we can get it).

So how do we do some training when ammo is scarce or expensive?

Live fire Pistol drills- NOTE- This is designed to be done on 1 box of ammo- 50 rounds. You can modify to be shorter or longer, depending on how your financial situation is.

PISTOL

Draw and fire 1 shot on a A zone or Down 0 or paper plate at 5-7 yards. 5 rounds.

Low ready, fire 1 shot on same target.

Draw and fire 1 shot, reload, and fire 1 shot. (This is called the 1R1 drill). 

Drawn and fire 6 shots into same target.

Low ready, fire 6 shots into same target. 2x

“FAST” drill. Paper plate and index card, index card above plate, about 8-10 inches. Fire 4 shots into paper plate, reload, fire 2 shots into the index card.  2x.

Draw and fire 1 shot on 2 targets 5 yards away, 6-7 yards apart. 2 left-right, 2 right-left.

 

Live fire rifle drills—NOTE- this is designed to be done on 1 or 2 boxes of ammo. 20 or 40 rounds. You can modify to be shorter or longer, depending on how your financial situation is.

RIFLE

Low ready, 1 shot on a A zone or Down 0 or paper plate at 10-15 yards. 2 rounds.

Low or high ready, fire 1 shot, reload, and fire 1 shot. (This is called the 1R1 drill). 3x

Low or high ready, fire 4 shots into same target.

Low ready, 2 targets, 10 yards away, 10 yards apart. 2 shots on each, 1 left-right, 1 right left.

50 yards modified “D” drill. 5 shots standing, 5 shots kneeling, reload, 5 shots kneeling, 5 shots prone. Paper plate target.
